Environmentally Friendly Cars |
Overview The term "environmentally friendly cars" is a bit misleading, because in today's world there is no car that can be 100% environmentally friendly. However, there are cars available that are better than the normal cars you see on the road everyday and the best thing about these cars is that for the most part they can perform just as well as a normal car. The most common environmentally friendly car is the hybrid car, which uses gas part of the time and electricity part of the time. The electric engine on a hybrid car is used when you are cruising at the same speed and it is also used for most of the slower acceleration that you need to do (e.g. when you are slowly rolling to a stop because you see a red light far ahead of you). The gas engine is used for fast acceleration and for sudden stopping and starting, because electric engines don't have the ability to generate the same amount of horsepower that conventional gas engines can. The main disadvantage to using a hybrid car is that the horsepower of the engines are often going to be lower. This means that if you really need to do heavy duty driving, a hybrid vehicle might not be for you. However, if you just use your car to drive to work everyday over city streets and freeways, then a hybrid car might just be your ticket to living in an environmentally friendly way. An added bonus is that most hybrids have twice the mileage of a similar gas powered car, so you can save some money at the pumps. Suggested Products There are many different cars that you can buy if you're in the market for a hybrid vehicle as almost every single automobile company now has at least one hybrid product on the market. People that normally drive compact cars might be interested in looking at products like the Toyota Camry Hybrid and the Honda Civic Hybrid. Both of these cars are typical compact cars while at the same time being excellent hybrid vehicles. Many people that have traded in their normal Camry and Civic cars for hybrids have noted that they didn't need to change much about their lifestyle or driving style to make the hybrid fit into their lifestyle. If, on the other hand, you're used to cars that tend to be more luxurious in nature, then there are still other great choices out there on the market for you. The Prius is probably the most famous hybrid car and it still functions well as a luxury vehicle. In addition to that however, there are Lexus luxury vehicles in the GS and RX series that have been converted into hybrid vehicles. These cars are still as luxurious as a normal Lexus, but have the added advantage of being environmentally friendly. For Further Reading The Green Car Centre at Yahoo!
